Job description
For one of our clients, an international technology company developing advanced communication systems, we are looking for a Systems Test Engineer to contribute to the development, integration and validation of next-generation airborne active antenna and phased array systems.
You will work on complex multidisciplinary systems combining RF and communication chains, power and control electronics, embedded hardware/software, and mechanical subsystems, designed to operate in demanding airborne environments.
The successful candidate must be available to start on-site in Lausanne by November 1st, 2026, or earlier.
Your Responsibilities
As a Systems Test Engineer, you will take ownership of system-level verification and validation activities, from test strategy definition through execution, troubleshooting and reporting.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Define and implement system verification strategies, test plans, procedures and reports
- Perform system-level functional, performance and qualification testing
- Define verification activities considering airborne environmental and qualification constraints
- Support testing and qualification activities in accordance with RTCA DO-160
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and test environments
- Execute manual and automated test campaigns and analyse results
- Investigate anomalies and work closely with engineering teams to reproduce, troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Validate interactions between RF, electronics, software/firmware and mechanical subsystems
- Assess system performance under different operational and environmental conditions
- Ensure traceability between system requirements and verification activities
- Document test results, defects and lessons learned
- Coordinate lower-level testing activities with specialised engineering teams when required
- Participate in technical reviews and communicate test results to project stakeholders
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of verification methods, tools and processes
Required qualifications
- MSc or equivalent degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Microtechnology or a related engineering field
- Experience in system testing, verification & validation, integration or system engineering
- Experience with airborne or avionics systems
- Knowledge of RTCA DO-160 environmental qualification/testing
- Good understanding of complex multidisciplinary electronic systems
- Knowledge of RF systems, communication systems and/or active antennas
- Experience with phased array / electronically steered antennas would be a strong advantage
- Understanding of system integration involving RF, electronics, embedded software/firmware and mechanical subsystems
- Experience with automated testing and scripting is highly appreciated
- Hands-on mindset with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in an international and multidisciplinary R&D environment
Available to work on-site in Lausanne from November 1st, 2026, at the latest
