Job Description
Our client is a global leader in metal flow engineering, providing a full range of engineering services and solutions to its customers worldwide, principally serving the steel and foundry industries. The mechatronic department designs robotic solution for continuous casting application. Integrated in this department you will be in charge of conception, design testing and commissioning of robotic equipment.
Your role:
Complement or complete design specification coming from feasibility team and/or sales, from mechanical, integration or robot sequence point of view
Understand the whole picture of a robot solution integration to:
- Define/validate equipment and component location and interaction
- Check installation drawing
- Define/validate energy supply and needs
- Define/validate interaction with human operator (ergonomics, safety, operator needs)
Based on new specification, and for a direct (e.g gripper) or indirect robotic (e.g LS rack) product, design new technical solution:
- Define and defend a basic concept of the solution in front of other Mechanical engineers or Managers
- Identify and calculate key parts of a solution (FEA, Kuka load)
- Define and design detailed concept (clean 3D model, manufacturing drawing, assembly drawing)
- Check 3D model, manufacturing and assembly drawing coming from other team members
- Select and define required sensor
Based on previous design, and for a direct (e.g gripper) or indirect robotic (e.g LS rack) product, design mechanical solution that fits to the specification
- Identify and calculate key parts of a solution (FEA, Kuka load)
- Define and design detailed concept (clean 3D model, manufacturing drawing, assembly drawing)
- Check 3D model, manufacturing and assembly drawing coming from other team members
- Select and define required sensor
Define and design (together with suppliers if necessary) following media layout:
- Hydraulic engineering and diagram
- Air engineering and diagram
- Other media layout (argon, air, other)
- Understand and check components integration together with robot movement and placement, using robot simulation software (Kuka sim layout)
- Define and provide the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) together with the AE for each equipment
- Supervise a complete RCT product assembly in workshop, being a support to Operations team
- Be able to be the mechanical leader for a RCT project (see document "mechanical leader")
Close collaboration with project manager and with Automation team (or Automation leader)
Able to be on customer site to have first contact with RCT project zone (take measurement, picture, contact with customer)
Communication with local people
Able to manage his/her own planning and other resource planning if necessary
Conduct a complete shop test of a robot integration
- Layout drawing and description
- Shop test plan definition together with RCT Lab Team
- Report conclusion
Supervise on-site mechanical equipment assembly:
- According to drawing
- React if unexpected issue
- Be the key contact for other team members of the project (AE, PM or customer and operator if necessary)
- Provide support to manufacturer if necessary (question, rework)
Provide following documentation (or able to check):
- Calculation notes,
- User manual per equipment and per project,
- Control sheet per equipment,
- Maintenance sheet per equipment
Be a mentor for new hired mechanical engineer or designer:
- Be a support for different software (Creo, Kuka Sim layout, AutoCAD)
- Able to explain the Vesuvius organization
- Able to explain in detail how the Engineering team works (standard, procedure, people, communication)
- Able to conduct general "mechanical administrative task"
Generate commercial item datasheet (Axapta)
Be a support to purchase team if necessary (technical question, missing drawing on datasheet, etc)
Check items delivery date or availability in system (Qube or SAP)
As product specialist, you oversee following actions for products you are in charge of:
- Be informed of modification and issues that occurred
- Track and record information you may have
- Keep clean and complete history of past action plan
- Manage technical solution you would like to implement to solve issues (suggest, plan, track)
- Define and apply standard
