Job Description
The Mission
Launch your international engineering career on a major industrial commissioning project.
We're opening this Project Engineer – Commissioning role as a VIE (Volontariat International en Entreprise), on a Seveso upper-tier industrial site in the Liège region, in Belgium, currently completing a large-scale revamping project: new buildings and revamped units, spanning HVAC, power electrics, piping, thermal and utility systems, automation and more.
What is a VIE?
The VIE is a French government program (managed by Business France) that lets young professionals take on a real assignment abroad for a French company, under a secure public status — not a standard employment contract.
Your Role
Based on site full-time, you'll work directly with contractors to bring commissioning activities to life:
Run commissioning checklists and protocols across a wide range of equipment (HVAC, sprinkler systems, power electrics, vessels, agitators, pumps, piping, sieving/separation units, distillation, thermal oil heating, utilities, RO systems, chillers, dryers, robotics, pneumatic transport, automation and process control cabinets)
Record and document test results
Raise and track non-conformance reports
Solve problems on the ground, in real time
Monitor progress across all commissioning activities
Support start-up testing and assist the client through the transition to operations.
Required qualifications
Your Profile
You hold a scientific or engineering background (Bachelor's to Master's, industrial engineer preferred), ideally electromechanical
You have a first experience in an industrial Seveso-type environment is a strong plus
You are comfortable with automation, instrumentation and electrical systems (Siemens and Schneider environments)
You are skilled in reading P&IDs, PFDs and isometric drawings
With a solid grounding in materials science, fluid dynamics and piping fundamentals
You are familiar with 3D modeling tools
You are rigorous, autonomous, analytical, and genuinely flexible — commissioning on site means adapting to changing priorities
A thoughtful, level-headed person who can step back and keep perspective under pressure.
French is mandatory, with good level of English.
