We are seeking an experienced IT API Integration Engineer to join one of the region's leading insurance groups. The role will support the design, development, security, deployment, and lifecycle management of APIs across multiple insurance business lines and digital platforms.
Job Description
Our client's API Platform is central and requires the API Engineer to be in relation with various consumers and providers.
The API Engineer is in charge of designing and developing APIs , documenting them, managing the lifecycle of the APIs, including their releases from none-production up to Production and Disaster Recovery environments.
The API Engineer will be working on different verticals :
- Health APIs
- Property & Casualties (PnC) APIs (motor, home, travel, motor-fleet, business-secure, Liability)
- Corporate APIs (payment APIs, CRM APIs)
- Regulatory APIs and other evolutions (authorities in UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar)
- Digital APIs (web and mobile app APIs)
- Partners Onboarding (for e-commerce PnC APIs)
- Data APIs
- Platform Evolutions, Monitoring, Maintenance (Jenkins, nexus, AWS, code commit, Kibana, Grafana etc etc)
- Delivery Automation
Operational & technical responsibilities
- Work with the Team Lead on the planning of the development deliveries considering the development tasks, their interdependencies within and across the different components of the integration platform
- Provide estimates for the development tasks
- Ensure reusability of the newly developed integration codes
- Ensure that the developments meet the Architecture and Information Security best practices
- Train other team members based on the request from the Team Lead
- Update the status of development tasks in a timely manner
- Use logic and technical knowledge in completing integration tasks; design API specifications, develops REST and SOAP services integrations from specifications, test the services
- Perform the Development tasks assigned by the the Team Leads
- Compile and writes documentation to describe integrations development and revisions
- Analyze designs and tests new and/or existing systems
- Secure Unit and Automate Testing definition and execution
- Follows specified guidelines and system standards in writing, testing, and documenting
- Performs research and identifies integration problems; develops solutions
- Document and promote a sustainable software development practice
- Production operations such as monitoring, incident support, occasional deployments and supports out of working hours
Required qualifications
- 3 years of experience in API Development, REST APIs, SOAP Services
- Knowledgeable in API security, API Management and API Gateway solutions (Wso2 , or other such as Apigee, Axway, IBM API Connect etc)
- Has worked in AWS cloud and containerized environments
- Preference on candidates who worked in insurance domain or with big technology / consulting companies

- Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework.
- Excellent knowledge of REST and SOAP, UML Design methodologies, SOA, data modeling techniques.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies (Git flow, release management, Jenkins, Nexus, SonarCube)
- Knowledge of AWS cloud (ECS, EKS, ECR, EC2)
- Knowledge of containerization / docker
- Knowledge of API security (authentication methods, oauth2, OIDC, client and server certificates, mTLS, JWTs JWS JWE)
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; coordinate, plan and schedule; test and implement programs
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds
