Job Description
As part of a multidisciplinary, multicultural, and international team (software teams based in Charleroi and Bangalore), your role as Software Technical Lead is to guide and structure the activities dedicated to:
- Software specifications & architecture — Contribute to the definition of software specifications and architectures based on requirements provided by rail domain experts.
- Software development — Design, implement, review, and test software components (detailed design, coding, code reviews, unit testing).
- Integration & functional validation — Perform integration and functional testing of software components within final products, using both physical and digital test platforms.
- Continuous improvement — Support the evolution of processes, methods, and tools.
Technology monitoring — Stay informed about relevant technological developments.
Coordination & Cross‑Functional Interfaces
- You act as a central interface between the software team, program management, and other engineering disciplines. Your responsibilities include:
- Activity coordination — Organize and coordinate software development activities within your scope.
- Planning & QCD performance — Contribute to planning, progress tracking, and adherence to Quality, Cost, and Delivery commitments.
- Change management — Participate in software change control boards (CCB).
- Risk management — Identify risks and escalate issues that may affect delivery or quality.
Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- You ensure compliance with standards while contributing to long‑term improvement initiatives.
- Standards compliance — Ensure alignment with applicable railway standards (EN 50716).
- Software planning — Contribute to the definition and execution of software plans.
- Design reviews — Participate in software design reviews and foster positive team dynamics.
- Standardisation & reuse — Promote standardisation, reuse, and continuous improvement practices.
Required qualifications
Education
Master's degree or engineering degree (BAC+5) in Electronics, Computer Science, Telecom, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a similar technical field.
Experience & Technical Background
More than 5 years of experience in real‑time embedded software development.
Strong background in complex system development.
Proven experience in railway or other safety‑critical environments.
Experience in technical leadership or coordination roles.
Fluency in English and French.
Nice to Have
Knowledge of railway safety standards (EN 50128 / EN 50716).
Experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
