The Project
We are currently looking for a Resident Engineer to join a hydropower plant extension project and act as the Owner's on-site representative throughout the construction phase.
Job Description
Overview of the rôle
- Supervise construction activities on behalf of the Owner and ensure compliance with contractual, technical, and quality requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance, construction progress, and adherence to project schedule and key milestones.
- Oversee HSE, quality, and environmental compliance across all site activities.
- Manage interfaces between the Owner, EPC contractor, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Review site documentation, progress reports, method statements, and construction records.
- Identify construction risks, support issue resolution, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Prepare regular progress reports and provide construction follow-up throughout project execution.
- Act as the Owner's site representative in accordance with FIDIC contract requirements and Owner's Engineer best practices.
Required qualifications
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction supervision or site management on industrial or energy projects
- Strong hydropower experience (essential)
- Proven experience as a Resident Engineer or in site-based construction supervision, ideally under FIDIC contracts
- Previous experience in Southern Africa would be a strong advantage
- Fluency in English
