Job Description
Our client is a leading player in the automotive sector, specialized in the development and production of advanced hybrid and conventional transmission systems. With strong R&D capabilities, state-of-the-art test facilities, and a solid industrial footprint, the company plays a key role in shaping next-generation electrified drivetrains focused on performance, efficiency, and CO₂ reduction.
To strengthen the system engineering team, we are looking for a System Engineer – Efficiency & Mission Profile to drive transmission-level performance and energy efficiency across real-world driving conditions.
Your Role:
As a System Engineer, you will act as the link between vehicle-level requirements and transmission subsystem design. Your mission is to define, analyze, and optimize transmission behavior with a focus on energy efficiency, drivability, and mission-based performance. You will work closely with system architects, hardware, controls, calibration, and validation teams, contributing directly to current and next-generation hybrid transmission platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Define, maintain, and verify system-level requirements related to transmission efficiency and performance across vehicle segments, markets, and drive cycles
Develop mission profiles representing real-world usage (standardized and customer-specific duty cycles)
Perform energy flow analysis and loss breakdowns at transmission and subsystem levels
Support design trade-offs between mechanical architecture, control strategies, and efficiency targets
Build and use system-level simulation models to predict performance under various mission profiles and load conditions
Correlate simulation results with vehicle tests, subsystem validation, and end-of-line data to improve model accuracy
Collaborate with Hardware, Controls, Calibration, Testing & Validation teams to ensure system targets are met
Define and support characterization tests (clutches, bearings, drag losses, etc.)
Contribute to design reviews, DFMEA activities, and validation strategies
Participate in the development of next-generation transmission concepts
Execute benchmark analyses of competitor transmission systems to identify best practices and innovation opportunities
Required qualifications
Your Profile:
Master's degree in Automotive, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in transmission system development, ideally with a focus on efficiency or testing
Strong data-driven mindset and analytical approach
Hands-on experience with simulation tools (Matlab/Simulink, or equivalent)
Experience in data acquisition and analysis
Solid understanding of transmission architectures, loss mechanisms, and energy flow analysis
Strong problem-solving skills and system-level thinking
Comfortable working in multidisciplinary, international teams
Knowledge of requirements management tools (e.g., Polarion)
Why Join:
Work on high-impact projects in the automotive sector
Collaborate with international, multidisciplinary teams
Opportunity to contribute to next-generation hybrid transmission systems
