Job Description
Role Purpose
The Capacity Planning Engineer is responsible for forecasting workload and aligning it with available resources (qualified staff, repair procedures, material, tools & equipments, industrial facilities) to ensure efficient operations planning. This role provides reliable commitments on planned release dates for aircraft components under repair, ensuring on-time delivery, optimized Turn Around Time (TAT), and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Forecasting & Planning
- Develop and maintain workload forecasts based on induction plan, repair workscopes and processes, customer support inputs and historical data.
- Assess resource requirements (manpower, shop capacity, tooling, test equipment, and parts availability) to meet workload demands.
- Translate forecasts into detailed operational plans aligned with contractual turnaround times (TATs).
Resource & Capacity Management
- Monitor availability of qualified staff, tools, industrial means, facilities, to identify potential bottlenecks.
- Recommend and coordinate capacity adjustments (e.g., overtime, subcontracting, shift patterns, equipment allocation).
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure timely availability of critical parts and materials.
Operations Optimization
- Optimize planning sequences to balance workload and maximize throughput.
- Provide accurate and reliable commitment of planned release dates for customer components.
- Track adherence to plans, analyze causes of delay and propose corrective actions to minimize delays and reduce TAT.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Establish and track KPIs (workload forecast accuracy, on-time release, repair Turn Around Time, resource utilization, capacity vs. demand).
- Produce regular capacity review reports for management and highlight risks to commitments.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in planning and resource management.
Required qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of proven experience in capacity or resource planning within the aerospace MRO industry (or a similarly regulated technical sector).
- Knowledge of EASA/FAA/GCAA Part 145 regulations and repair shop operations is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills with experience in planning tools
- Proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis; knowledge of capacity planning software is a plus.
- Understanding of aerostructure repair processes and shop capacity drivers.

- Strong communication and coordination skills across departments (Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Support).
