This role ensures optimal system performance, regulatory compliance, and integration of ECS technologies into advanced aerospace platforms. The SME will drive innovation, mentor engineering teams, and support program-level decision-making for the company's next-generation autonomous systems.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Provide subject matter expertise across all phases of ECS lifecycle: concept, architecture, design, integration, testing, qualification, and support.
- Lead the development of ECS architectures for UAV platforms including cabin cooling, avionics thermal management, air handling, and environmental sensing.
- Advise engineering management on ECS technology trends, design trade-offs, materials, and innovation roadmaps.
- Serve as the design authority on ECS-related subsystems and participate in critical design and program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
Systems Engineering & Integration
- Define and validate ECS system requirements based on operational environments, mission profiles, and platform constraints.
- Ensure seamless integration of ECS with propulsion, avionics, electrical, and structural subsystems.
- Develop and manage interface control documents (ICDs), requirement traceability matrices, and verification plans.
Performance Analysis & Testing
- Oversee simulations and analyses (thermal modeling, CFD, cycle efficiency) to validate ECS system performance.
- Support the definition and execution of environmental and functional testing (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-810).
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for ECS-related issues during ground or flight testing.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure ECS designs and materials comply with aerospace standards and regulations including DO-160, MIL-STD-810, GCAA/CS-UAS, and AS9100.
- Generate and review documentation for safety, reliability, hazard analysis, and certification readiness.
- Interface with airworthiness authorities and contribute to the preparation of compliance documentation.
Mentorship & Collaboration
- Act as a technical mentor to mechanical and systems engineers working on ECS components and systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, avionics, software, manufacturing) to ensure ECS design aligns with system-wide performance goals.
- Represent the Company in technical engagements with customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
