Job Description
Responsibilities:
Support in the establishment of long term strategy for Inertial Measurement Units within the Navigation department
Consult IMU development lead to select appropriate inertial sensors for an IMU, taking into account cost, performance, availability and supplier track record
Develop IMU product specifications and analyse IMU performance data to ensure system meets company performance requirements
Lead the development of all IMUs that are designated for a local development effort
Continually review IMU and sensor test facilities and purchase test equipment where required
Manage IMU development processes and update where required
Lead the design, development and maintenance of IMU calibration methods, techniques and algorithm
Manage full test and evaluation of an IMU and clear IMU for operational use
Liaise with IMU suppliers during development to sort out all technical and financial issues
Support production team during production process on all technical integration and performance issues of the IMU
Communicate effectively with the various stakeholders regarding ongoing challenges, solutions and capabilities
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in relevant sensor fusion and IMU techniques
Coach and mentor the IMU Design team, driving their performance and supporting their learning and development within the organization
Required qualifications
12 years specialist exposure in IMU design, development, testing, performance evaluation in a Navigation environment
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics and similar
